Franconia Notch House, NH

Developing out of a consideration of the connected farm house typology of New England, this house is broken into a series of volumes surrounding an open main living area. Connection to the magnificent surroundings is primary and emphasized with large floor to ceiling glass walls, delineated by wood members recalling timber framed farm buildings. Variations in siding patterns and window scales, as well as shading and trellis elements come together with a uniform color treatment, generating an elegant composition, well seated in the rolling hillside.
