Maine House – Bar Harbor Area, ME

A conceptual house exploration for a client with an ocean front property in Maine. The studio included a visit to their site, and a series of meetings leading to an understanding of the essential qualities of the coast line. The process consisted of multiple iterations of simple conceptual ideas leading to an emphasis on the filtered experience of walking through the forest to the rocky and open edge of the water. The building includes variations in volume and intimacy according to degrees of social / private space.
